Entrance:
On the corner of 6th avenue and 21st street. In the summertime, nice and breezy with all the windows open and the tables spread out onto the busy street.
Interior:

A stylish bar lines one side of the restaurant. We were greeted by a pretty hostess at the door and served by non Americans, which added to the Europeanish atmosphere.
Bread.

Fresh hot doughy soft bread, good for soaking up olive oil and vinegar. Eat quick! Or when they get cold, they’re tough and chewy like the rolls you get on airplanes.
Salt & Pepper Calamari
Fried cornmeal, Lime & Black Mountain Pepper $11

Soft chewy calamari in a thin crispy crunchy shell with a creamy citrusy and spicy mayo sauce. I’m assuming the black powdery stuff on top was the black mountain pepper. It tasted like salty crispy smokey burnt crumbles, and the flavor was really strong.
Rocket Salad
Red Pear, Pistachio, Pomegranate Dressing, Maytag Cheese $11

Fresh bitter leaves with big bunches of blue cheese, pistacios, and apples which made the salad sweet and juicy. I’m not particularly a big fan of blue cheese, so the big crumbles were a bit strong and overwhelming for me.
Angel Hair Pasta
Shrimp tossed with Basil, Tomato, & Garlic $18

Sticky noodles, lots of garlic and basil flavor, slightly buttery, tossed with sweet cherry tomato halves and big crunchy shrimp. I liked the stickiness of the noodles, as it reminded me of a personal favorite of mine, sesame oil chinese noodles. It was also just the right enough buttery that it tasted nice and rich but didn’t leave me feeling like i had to rinse the oil out of my mouth when i finished, which means a lot to me. A simple dish, but I liked it a lot!
