Pretty good Thai food in a relaxed, sophisticated and clean atmosphere with traditional Thai accents.

Entrance:
Thai Lounge
Greeted by a large golden Buddha and verdant plants, once you step in it’s dark red wood floors, furniture, and white table cloths. I’ve only been on weeknights, when it’s pretty empty, but it should be more full on weekends.

Visited: 10pm Wed. February 1, 2006
Complimentary appetizer:
Thai Lounge
To start off, while reading the menu, we were given these triangles of crunchy fried chips folded around a small meatball, and sweet and sour chili oil for dipping.

Perlas del Mar de Andaman €8.40 (Pearls from the Andaman Sea)
Thai Lounge
Four small round soft scallops sauteed in a slightly sweet and spicy soy sauce, served on giant thin shells.

Pad Thai €7.60
Thai Lounge
A pretty good portion of pad thai, even though it was listed under the sides section of the menu. The flavor was pretty good also, with peanuts, eggs, lime, and lots of bean sprouts, but overall was way too salty to finish the entire plate by itself.

Salmon de Manora €11.95 (Fresh Salmon with Red Curry)
Thai Lounge
Big piece of soft pink salmon in a sweet and very creamy coconut sauce. Mmm… Pretty spicy too, considering we’re in Spain! Topped with red and green peppers.

Arroz Jazmin €3.80 (Jasmin rice)
Thai Lounge
Normal jasmin rice, pretty expensive for a bowl.

Overall, I’d remember this place, as there are only a handful of Thai restaurants in Barcelona. Besides the salty pad thai, everything was flavorful and good.

total+tax= €38.36 (dinner for 2)

Really empty Tuesday night where the majority of the customers were over 50 and very dressed up.

Crunchy triangles filled with meat.

Hake Fillets served in Sweet and Sour Sauce €12.85
Thai Lounge
Chewy crispy fried fish in a thick sauce heavy with sweet pineapples and red peppers. There were also juicy mushrooms, zucchini, and onions. Must love pineapples and sweet peppers for this dish!

Salmon de Manora €11.95
Thai Lounge
Creamy and spicy, we couldn’t resist ordering this again!

Receipt:
merluza agridulce 12.85
salmon de manora 11.95
arroz jazmin 2 7.60
agua fontvella 1/2 2 4.10
total+tax= €39.06 (dinner for 2)

  1. Dom says:

Good atmosphere, bad food- not at all spicy and lacking in flavour. My Duck Red curry tasted of cheesy wotsits (Cheeto’s).

We had the Salmon too and it was a generous portion but no flavour (I think the red “chillies” on top may have been just red pepper!).

Green Curry so bland the cucumber in it was the strongest flavour!

No authentic Thai “ZING” whatsoever- steer clear if you want flavour…you may like it if your favourite Indian curry is still Chicken Korma!!!….and you like Wotsits!
