Fast food Spanish sandwich chain where you can get fresh crispy baguette sandwiches (bocadillos). It is very easy to order here as there are photos of the bocadillos next to every item on the menu. They also feature sandwiches of the month. Pans & Company has a cafe atmosphere, very clean and bright, and also serves coffee and pastries at a separate counter in many stores. The one I frequented the most was the one on Passeig de Gràcia.Passeig de Gràcia, 39

I still remember the first time I came out of the Urquinaona subway station my very first day in Barcelona, and I saw the colorful Pans & Company, thinking it was some fancy bread and salad store. Who knew I would end up going there all the time for great sandwiches, coffee, and free bathroom breaks?

Spanish tortilla sandwich (€2.95) to the left, and Capri (€3.95) on the right. Patatas Bravas to the far right.
The bread is always warm and crispy, but the tortillas vary. My favorite sandwich is the spanish tortilla which is like an omelette filled with onions and potatoes. Sometimes the potatoes are a bit raw, but most of the time it’s good. The Capri sandwich, I actually can’t remember now, but it was made of bread baked with olives, and I think it was an omelette with melted cheese, tomatoes and tuna, or mushrooms? Anyhow, both sandwiches were good.
The patatas bravas, thick wedges of fried potatoes which the majority of Spanish order instead of normal french fries, are also crispy and soft, topped with a garlic mayonnaise and ketchup. I used to think the mayo was weird, but I’ve gotten used to it, and actually like it a lot now! For €1.90 extra, you get the Basic Menu which is a sandwich of choice plus a drink and fries. The price varies with the stores. Also, Pans & Company mostly has sliced meat sandwiches, which is more popular among the customers.

One of my first meals: a Capri bocadillo basic menu with french fries.
In the beginning I became obsessed and wanted a toasty bocadillo for breakfast, lunch, and dinner!

Cup of cappuccino and a slice of chocolate cake.
Dryish chocolate cake with buttery cream and thin dark chocolate pieces. One warning: ocassionally, the 2nd floor of the Urquinaona store is filled with giggly teenagers and groping kid couples hanging out late at night or after school. I was rushed through this cake after I was suddenly squashed uncomfortably in the middle of a big group of them.
Overall a great place for a quick lunch or snack. This is one chain that I wish could spread to the U.S. so I could continue enjoying their tortilla sandwiches!
