Right when I entered, I was greeted by a smiling waitress who seated and told us how lunch worked there. The menu of the day features a 3 course lunch for just 9 euros (drinks not included). For the first course, you go to the salad bar and pick up whatever you want as an appetizer.

My plate of salad and the soup of the day.
salad
The salad bar includes soups, healthy breads, various crisp fresh veggies, chunky dressings, and couscous and noodle salads. A few items on my plate: apples and beets, lettuce, cucumbers, couscous, couscous salad, noodles, super soft little red potatoes. I chose a vinegary eggy carrot mush dressing. The soup tasted like a thick miso soup with onions and veggies.

A rectangular slice of extremely thick and dense grainy bread.

For the second course, you order at a window where you can wait in line and watch them simply prepare your food.

Croquette of Millet with Pumpkin.
pumpkin
Sweet soft cubes of pumpkin and fried cakes of a nutty carrot and couscous-like filling in a tomato sauce.

Cake of Rice and Chard.
veggies
On the top right was the cake, like a spinach and cheese lasagna but with rice instead of pasta. On the left were curry flavored mung beans which also tasted faintly like chinese herbal medicine. This was pretty interesting, as I had only ever eaten mung beans as a sweet soup dessert all my life. In the front, big slices of steamed carrots and some fibrous vegetable.

Veggie Pizza.

Bits of peppers, onions, zucchini, and broccoli on a fluffy whole wheat pizza bread.

Finally, for dessert, you pick one up from the window where you ordered your main course.

3 cakes:

From left clockwise: Brown sugar, raisins, granola and apples. Dryish banana bread/cake topped with shredded coconut. Really dry chocolate muffin like cake, kind of like a chocolate version of the banana cake with walnuts.

A filling and good value healthy meal. Be prepared to spend at least 1 and a half hours here for lunch. Unfortunately, we were extremely rushed when we only had one hour before a scheduled tour of the Palau de la Música Catalana and barely made it through dessert while stuffing ourselves.
