The study abroad program I came to Barcelona with took us all out for a fun farewell dinner at the end of the semester.
A cute little restaurant that converts into a club at around midnight. This place used to be called Salsitas, and is not to be confused with another lounge/bar named Guru.

Visited: 11:30pm Fri. December 16, 2005

The pure white palm trees, coconut lights, video projections, and overall pink glow gave a warm welcome after stepping in from the chilly winter air outside. The entrance to the restaurant is a narrow cocktail bar leading to this room.

We were offered a 3 course meal (2 pictured) including drinks(water, red wine, white wine, cava, and coffee).

My starter:
“Stuffed pasta… sautéed pumkin sauce, gorgonzola cheese and sautéed mushrooms”
pasta
Already a little tipsy from all the wine and cava on an empty starving stomach, I had to try real hard taking this blurry photo (unfortunately, I didn’t take any notes on the food either)! I do remember that it was really good- chewy cheesey tortellini, that kind of looks like smoked salmon, in a light creamy pumpkin sauce.

Another starter:
“Scrambled eggs… lightly fried potatoes sautéed with asparagus tips and shavings of Iberican ham”
potatoes
I can’t quite remember, but if there were scrambled eggs in here, they were probably the little bits on the left side. Otherwise, patatas bravas like potatoes and thin cuts of ham.

My main:
“Griddled salmon… baked feta cheese, purée of smoked aubergine… black olives and pak-choy”
salmon
Sadly, I don’t remember this dish too much. For such an interesting description, I think it did not show it all in the flavor. It was still a good piece of salmon on a smooth veggie puree, I just don’t remember noting the feta cheese or smoked eggplant.

Another main:
“Satay of chicken marinaded in sesame oil… wok of jasmine rice, bamboo and caramelized papaya”
chicken
A fellow vegetarian drunkenly ordered this plate, but happily devoured the crispy burnt chicken!

My dessert:
“Chocolate fondant with banana sorbet”
chocolate
I don’t know if it was the drinks or what, but I remember I absolutely loved this chocolate dessert! Extremely rich, creamy, moist fudgy chocolate brownie like cake with a crisp banana chip.

Another dessert:
“Tiramisu”
tiramisu
This was overshadowed by the crazy good chocolate fondant, but it was pretty yummy too!

I don’t know the prices, but from the looks of the place, I would guess that the menu was somewhere around 20 euros? The staff began to remove the tables at around 1am, and my table was actually the last to go, as I was finishing up the dessert! My little square table in the middle of already dancing people! Nevertheless, it was a nice meal to end the semester.
