I have loved Spanish tortillas ever since I tried them for the first time, so I was quite excited to eat at a restaurant that specializes in and has over 70 variations of this simple yet classic dish.C/La Granada del Penedès, 25

Entrance:
Fancy diner setting with black and white Pop Art decor and white leather. The woman on the entrance is painted throughout the walls of the restaurant in varying poses. All the restaurant lights are also strategically placed at the flash of the camera she’s holding.
Some bread with olives.

Today, the bread was still crispy but very dry and tough at the same time. The french fries (not pictured) were also soggy. Probably just a bad day.
Mercedita’s cod omelette (onion, cod, and tomato sauce) €5.70

Unlike what I had imagined and expected, these tortillas are not like the traditional tall cake-like potato packed tortillas. They are really just normal omelettes with lots of fluffy egg.
This one was quite salty, probably from the cod, with strips of juicy soft sweet onions like the ones in onion soup inside the omelette.
Roman omelette (macaroni and cheese ) €5.10

The first time I came here, this wasn’t available, and as I love mac n’ cheese, I definitely wanted to try it this time! The outside looks plain and simple.
Close up shot of the inside.

It didn’t taste as good as I thought. It was a combination of strong Velveeta flavored creamy cheese and scrambled eggs. The watery chewy macaroni and eggs didn’t quite mix in texture and I always thought Velveeta tasted strange. Of course, this is delicious if you like Velveeta!
note: Having learned from the first trip, the 3 of us who went shared these 2 big omelettes, which was still quite enough eggs for us.
For dessert: Tommie’s apple omelette €4.50

A small flattened egg omelette filled with cooked apples. I was hoping for some creative twist to an apple pie, but this was just an apple omelette! The taste was alright, with crunchy burnt sugar on top, but what really turned me off was the texture. My apologies for being disgusting (if you think it), but, although I have never eaten guts before, this had that slimy crunchy/crispy texture that I would imagine they have (actually, I may have unknowingly eaten guts before when I was too young to care and my parents ate that kind of stuff). After putting a forkfull in your mouth, the really slimy apple pieces mush and swim around like worms. Not the best texture for a dessert!

Bread.
A good start to the meal, the bread was perfect. Perfectly warm, crispy, and soft inside, and went perfectly well with the flavorful omelettes to come.
A side of french fries €1.90

The french fries were also very crispy and thin. The kind of crispy where you wonder where the hearty potato went.
Truffle omelette (truffles and cheese) €9.90

Of course I get the most expensive omelette on the menu! But I love any type of mushroom and dared to try the truffles and cheese. It was pretty good and cheesey with little bits of truffle.
Baker’s omelette (bread, cheese and fried tomato) €5.70

Fun big circle shape. The whole omelette had an orange color, and a tomato flavor throughout. It was interesting to find medium sized bits of soggy bread in the omelette like in a bread pudding. I liked this one as well, but after finishing mine, and eating nearly half of this one (since the other person couldn’t finish it) I was pretty sick of eggs for the rest of the day! One omelette per person here is quite a lot of egg so I would try getting some other things from the menu.
They also serve soups, salads, fresh veggies, and it seems, great burgers. In fact, most of the customers there ordered burgers. I should have also tried their plain potato omelette to see if it was any different from the normal one. Next time!
