This is the best place to get Sunday brunch in Barcelona! Although I have only tried one other brunch place…(there aren’t too many anyway)

Visited: 2pm Sun. May 7, 2006
Entrance:
Dos Trece
The store front’s a bit bland, but just across the street is a little spot with outdoor seating and bright red tables.
This time we made sure to get here a bit earlier so as to not miss out on pancakes again! It was pretty empty with only 2 or 3 tables occupied, and the service was really quick. It started to fill up a bit outside half an hour later.

The side entrance:

2 orange juices (I’m guessing €2 each)
I keep forgetting to write down the price, and they take away the receipt.

Pancakes! Finally!
Pancakes- A stack of fluffy pancakes served with butter and maple syrup €5.50

The pancakes of the day were strawberry and walnuts. I asked for plain, but they still gave me the special. Fluffy soft pancakes just as I wanted, with crunchy walnuts inside and smushed slices of sour strawberries. Pretty good and soaked in syrup!

French toast again (€6)

This time darker bread and no chocolate chips. Still good.

1 side of toast (€1.50)

Different bread. I liked the crunchy green bread! This time it was just plain thin slices of white bread and not so crunchy.

2 sides of homefries (€1.50×2=€3)

Guess what? They forgot to charge an item again! The toast. But that’s perfectly fine with me!

total+tax= €18.50 (brunch for 2)

Full on a sunny sunday holiday afternoon. We had to wait about 30 minutes to get a table. Luckily we got a table in the shade outside by a little playground. The inside was a bit smokey.

Drinks:
drinks
Orange juice, water, extra milky café con leche, and a small bunch of roses from a street stand for the Catalan holiday St. Jordi’s (holiday of books and roses, dragons and princesses).

French Toast- Fat slices of bread served the french way-soft, warm, eggy and dripping in butter and maple syrup €6.00 (add 1 euro for bacon)
french toast
Thick, soft, chewy and soaked in syrup just like the menu description. There was also a lot of cinammon which made me think the brown spots were raisins, but I’m still not sure, they were melty so I think they were actually chocolate chips! I couldn’t taste them, but the thought of chocolate chips made the brunch extra happy!

A side of homefries €1.50
homefries
Little crispy chewy peppery potatoes placed in a bowl too big.

2 sides of toast €1.50 each (€3.00 total)
toast
Thick crunchy green bread. I’m not sure why they were green (no flavor), but they were still nice and toasty!

This is the sad part:
The last brunch place I tried had no pancakes, and after waiting 30 minutes drooling at other peoples stacks of fluffy pancakes here, I was sure I’d finally get some! But to no avail, they were out by the time we got seated!(3:30pm) I think I was just cut off, because I ordered it and then they came and told me there was none left. So instead, I quickly decided on eggs benedict(€9), another favorite of mine. But when the plate came, they brought me eggs florentine(€8).

It was still pretty good though: big juicy eggs, creamy sweet and tangy sauce, and fresh spinach leaves piled on top of a thick slice of toast (with a small side of salad).

Overall a pretty good brunch, but messy service. To top it all off, I got a bit of a “discount”. The bill came up as only €13.40! They forgot to include the water, orange juice, coffee, 2nd side of toast, and still had pancakes written instead of eggs. I told them that they were missing a few items, and the waiter thought hard and said “oh! orange juice and water right?” So in the end the bill was €18.00 total (So I still got a “free” side of toast, and coffee :)).
