My study abroad program took us Americans to this pizzeria for a much missed hearty Thanksgiving dinner.(photo soon)
Pumpkin soup.

Sweet pumpkin cream, it actually tasted ok.
Cheese pizza.

I was offered a vegetarian meal, and I accepted, thinking that they would just give me sides and no turkey. But, much to my disappointment, they brought me a pizza! I kind of liked the pizza though; it was deep, had crispy cheesy edges and had lots of melty cheese and tomato sauce.
But that’s not what I wanted for Thanksgiving! I quickly asked for some sides as well, as watching other people eat their big plates of turkey and sides made me jealous.

There were mashed potatoes with gravy, grilled corn, fried potatoes, boiled carrots, and sweet thick berry jam.
Last came the “Apple cake” with vanilla ice cream.

We all thought they meant apple pie, but we were wrong! A very strange cake with difficult to identify ingredients and origins. From the greenish color and edges and some white spots, it looked like a big chunk of cheese or mold. It was very mushy and grainy and just plain weird. It kind of tasted like a dense hard apple sauce, but not really.
Overall, although it definitely couldn’t compare to the mouthwatering feasts in the U.S., I was still happy for their attempt at providing us with a Thanksgiving meal. The soup, mashed potatoes, and corn were enough to make me happy. The pizza was also pretty good. As an estimate, I’d guess the meals were about 15-20 euros per person.
